A representative for the former TOWIE star confirmed the unfortunate news to MailOnline on Tuesday, stating: "Mark’s grandad passed away last night. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family." Eddie, who was a former champion boxer and paramedic, was hospitalized last June following a fall, prompting the family to gather by his side.

Mark's father, known as Big Mark Wright, shared a heartfelt photo of his father on Instagram during that time, writing: "Happy Father's Day to the best. Unfortunately, he is in the hospital at the moment after a fall a couple of days ago, but Dad, I’m on my way to see you now. Stay strong xxx." Eddie had been a prominent figure in the Wright family over the years, most notably appearing alongside his grandson Mark in the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are? in 2019. Mark expressed that his grandfather was the inspiration for participating in the show, saying:

"I have always wanted to learn about our family history, as my Grandad has always speculated about our origins. However, no one has ever known for sure

He was told that our family had Italian roots, and being able to share this with him is wonderful. He has done so much for us; he is our king." "Repaying him is difficult, but this was a moment I wanted to seize before it was too late." During the program, Mark characterized Eddie as "a tough ex-British champion boxer, but on the other hand, he is a kind and gentle man." Throughout the series, Mark discovered much about his paternal lineage, sharing with viewers that his ancestors grew up in London's East End.

"My great-great-grandfather was somewhat of a rogue in the East End. He had a history of theft, but everything he did was to support his family." "He had eight children living in a cramped house in East Ham. Ultimately, I recognized the good in him. He lied about his age to enlist in the army and was a commendable soldier." Mark conveyed his deep affection for Eddie during the lockdown, struggling to hold back tears on his Heart Radio show as he shared messages from listeners longing for their loved ones.
